Expedition Ship: Clipper Adventurer

Over the past 15 years, Fathom Expeditions has led over 65 polar cruises on a wide-range of expedition cruise vessels.

We first sailed (and pioneered several expedition cruises) on the Sea Adventurer back in 1998 and beyond. She has become one of our favourite luxury expedition ships by far and we are thrilled to be operating this incredible NW Passage journey on such an accomplished passenger vessel.

She has achieved numerous expedition firsts throughout the Antarctica and around the world. Her ice-rating allows us to venture safely into ice, remote bays and sensitive areas without disruption. Originally built the famed shipyards of Finland, Sea Adventurer underwent a 6 million dollar refurbishment in 2005. She has been well-suited to accommodate a maximum of 110 passengers for our trip in 55 comfortable twin cabins and suites. An ice-strengthened polar ship, Sea Adventurer is very well appointed and provides loads of deck space and an open bridge policy. The fleet of inflatable Zodiac boats ensures superb landings and wildlife viewing opportunities on otherwise inaccessible coastlines.

All cabins include a desk, two lower berths, private bathroom facilities and ample storage space. Public areas feature a large dining room (one sitting), an observation lounge and bar, a conference room with modern multimedia equipment, a well-stocked library, a changing room and a small infirmary. Our expert captain, officers and crew are highly experienced in Polar navigation and have a great love and passion for this ice-covered world. A specialist team of international leaders and lecturers are all extremely experienced, enthusiastic, helpful and dedicated. Onboard chefs prepare excellent cuisine including many local specialties and the bar is well-stocked with carefully selected wines and spirits for celebrations at the end of each day.

Once again, we are excited to sail with one of our favourite Captains, Kenth Granqvist.

Please give us a call or drop us an info@fathomexpeditions.com to join this grand journey across the top of the world.

The ice awaits.

Fathom Expeditions is proud to return to the High Arctic for a grand tour exploring Greenland, Canada and the Northwest Passage

August 28-September 11, 2014

Join us on this custom 15-day cruise exploring the best of the Canadian Arctic and Greenland's high Arctic during the height of the polar summer.
Relive incredible history from the golden age of exploration, relax amongst teeming Arctic bird and wildlife, take in the local culture and art or marvel at the scenery.
Our expedition ship has a long history throughout Canada's Arctic and with large cabins, loads of deck space, active and passive stabilizers, a fleet of Zodiacs and the best open bridge in the business, we will enjoy all the wonders of the polar north in comfort and safety.
Guided by a team of the world's premier field experts, travellers will sail up and make landings along the famed NW Passage Route in Canada's Arctic coastlines before exploring the hidden wonders of Greenland's West coast.
In Canada, we will walk and hike remote mountains and beaches, discover traditional Inuit communities, photograph bustling bird colonies and endless landscapes lit by the midnight sun.  The chance to see polar bears and the amazing walrus in the wild are very good on this trip. We explore the history and outposts of the Hudson Bay company and we will experience, first hand, the story of Franklin and his men.
In Greenland, the trip discovers the fjord-ridden Greenland with its European flavour and stunningly colourful villages. We plan to visit the second largest ice sheet in the world, picturesque communities, UNESCO World Heritage Sites, narwal breeding grounds, muskox hideouts and the enormous stunning glaciers that give Greenland a wild and natural character.
Viking tales of Eric the Red add another element to our history program as we follow in the very footsteps of early pioneers.

What a journey! Through the heart of Canada's Arctic retracing the most sought after prize from a century before - the route through the ice across the NW Passage.
